U.S.-Poland High Level Defense Group Meets in Warsaw

Assistant Secretary of Defense for International Security Affairs Ambassador Alexander Vershbow visited Warsaw October 27 for the second annual High Level Defense Group meeting. Delegation members from the U.S. Departments of State and Defense, as well as the Joint Staff and European Command, participated in high level discussions with their Polish counterparts on a wide range of topics, including NATO issues and bilateral military cooperation programs.  Ambassador Feinstein, who participated in the first High Level Defense Group meeting immediately following his arrival last year, said,  “I’ve seen remarkable progress over the past year, including the ratification of the Status of Forces Agreement and the signing of the Protocol amending the Ballistic Missile Defense Agreement, as well as significant military-to-military cooperation, like the recently completed JACKAL STONE special forces exercise.”
