USDA Borlaug Fellows Program
5 February 2010
The USDA will be looking for two new Borlaug Fellows from Polish universities soon. Applicants should be interested scientists looking for post-doctoral experience in the United States in advanced animal and plant genetics. The U.S. Embassy in Warsaw has sponsored six Polish scientists to study in the United States under this program, which promotes new crop science for the 21st century. Under the Borlaug program, young scientists travel to the United States to study at a major American research university, choosing a professor who will later travel to Poland to work with them in their own laboratory, establishing a mentoring relationship. Through the Borlaug Fellowship, hundreds of scientists around the world are examining how plants must adapt due to climate change and to fight the constant development of new pest and disease threats against food production. If you are interested, please contact Dr. Piotr Rucinski at agwarsaw@fas.usda.gov to inquire.
