On October 14, a group of 50 middle school students from Bydgoszcz participated in another “Meet America” program at the Embassy to learn about the U.S. Foreign Service and our education system. Cultural Attaché Andrew Paul told the group about the benefits and challenges of a diplomatic career and explained what foreign “service” entails.
“Diplomacy is activities of state authorities and their representatives abroad in order to protect and fulfill external interests in a peaceful manner”, explained Andrew. The group asked numerous questions about life as a diplomat in Poland, the role of the Embassy in advancing U.S. policies and how the average American views Poles and Poland.
Consular Officer Frisco McDonald described the U.S. education system and also answered their questions about American teenagers’ lifestyles and cultural differences between the U.S. and Poland.
