Miles of Blue

I heard Miles for the first time when I was 14 – Urbaniak says – then a virtuoso student of violin in Lodz. In 1959 I heard “Kind of Blue” and when my mum bought me a saxophone, I started to play it everyday, together with the LP. Miles replaced Vinnetou the Indian and became my hero.  I emigrated to New York on Sept. 11, 1973 and met many musicians. Some of my American friends Marcus Miller, Lenny White, Billy Cobham, Omar Hakim, Bernard Wright, Don Blackman, Anthony Jackson, Kenny Kirkland later appeared either with Miles Davis or with Joe Zawinul’s Weather Report.
