On Wednesday, August 19, U.S. Ambassador to Poland, Victor Ashe hosted a luncheon at his residence to honor Alex Storozynski, a renowned journalist, book author, and president of the Kosciuszko Foundation. His most recent book, The Peasant Prince: Thaddeus Kosciuszko and the Age of Revolution, received enthusiastic reviews in leading U.S. publications including the Wall Street Journal and the New York Daily News. It is the first comprehensive biography of the most legendary figure in Polish history. The colorful narrative delights the reader with unexpected details from the life of “the purest son of liberty“ as Thomas Jefferson once called Kosciuszko. While Kosciuszko is best-known for his revolutionary accomplishments, he was also a dedicated human rights advocate who stood up for the rights of the oppressed and discriminated ethnic groups including African Slaves, Native Americans, and Jews. “This fascinating publication is another contribution to strengthening ties between the United States and Poland as we celebrate the 90th anniversary of diplomatic relations between our countries,” said Ambassador Ashe.

Alex Storozynski is a Pulitzer Prize winning journalist, a former member of the New York Daily News editorial board, founding editor of amNewYork and former city editor of the New York Sun. He has also been published in the European edition of The Wall Street Journal, The Chicago Tribune, The New York Post, Newsday and other publications.

Selected press reviews of The Peasant Prince:

“An accessible, soundly researched, English-language biography. With 'The Peasant Prince,' Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist Alex Storozynski has filled the void. And what a tale he has to tell . . . a supporting cast that amounts to a Who's Who of 18th-century American and European history."

- Aram Bakshian Jr., The Wall Street Journal

“Alex Storozynski has just published “The Peasant Prince: Thaddeus Kosciuszko and the Age of Revolution,” a sweeping, colorful, and absorbing biography that should restore Kosciuszko to his proper place in history.”

- Andrew Nagorski, Newsweek
