Ambassador Ashe and Poland’s Deputy Minister of Justice Discuss AMBER Alert

7 August 2009

pictureOn August 7, 2009, U.S. Ambassador to Poland, Victor Ashe, FBI Attaché John Bienkowski, and Deputy Political Counselor Craig Conway met with Deputy Minister of Justice Krzysztof Kwiatkowski and Judge Dariusz Sielicki to discuss the USG’s AMBER Alert system.  This system was designed to seek the public’s help when a child is abducted. Minister Kwiatkowski and Ambassador Ashe agreed that we should do everything possible to protect children and that the AMBER Alert system is an excellent tool toward that cause. They agreed to continue to work on ways to better protect our children. Please click here to learn more about AMBER Alert.

An AMBER Alert is a child abduction alert bulletin in the United States and Canada, as well as other countries, issued upon the suspected abduction of a child. AMBER is officially a backronym for "America's Missing: Broadcasting Emergency Response" but was originally named for Amber Hagerman, a 9-year-old child who was abducted and murdered in Arlington, Texas in 1996.
