Ambassador Ashe Visits the Poznań Area
On Wednesday, May 13, U.S. Ambassador to Poland, Victor Ashe, travelled to the Poznań area where he met with local government leaders, church officials, and toured the ITT Corporations Water & Waste Water facility in Kostrzyn Wielkopolski with managing director, Maciej Janowski. Ambassador Ashe also visited the Wielkopolski National Park and a historic Castle near Kórnik, where the Library of the Polish Academy of Science is housed. In the morning, Ambassador Ashe met with Anna Rydzewska, the mayor of Oborniki, at the city hall in Oborniki.  He then traveled to Poznań, where a meeting was arranged at the Fire Service College between the Ambassador and the school director, Brig. Grzegorz Stankiewicz, Ph.D.  While still in Poznań, the Ambassador met with Pastor Richard Nungesser, head of Baptist Church, and then traveled to Jeziory (Mosina), where he visited the Wielkopolski National Park with Adam Kaczmarek, the Park Director.  The last meeting on the schedule was with Jerzy Lechnerowski, the mayor of Kórnik, followed by a meeting with Maciej Janowski, Managing Director at the ITT Corporations facility in Kostrzyn Wielkopolski.
