| Bipartisan Delegation on Homeland Security |
A bipartisan delegation consisting of staff members of the Senate Committee on Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs, House Committee on Homeland Security, and officials from the U.S. Department of Homeland Security visited Warsaw from August 30, 2009 – September 01, 2009. The purpose of the visit was to meet with U.S. Embassy, European Union, and Polish officials responsible for international travel security programs. The delegation had a series of open discussions and exchanged views with the Polish Ministry of Foreign Affairs; representatives of the European Agency for the Management of Operational Cooperation at the External Borders of Member States of the European Union (FRONTEX); and Embassy representatives with counterterrorism, law enforcement, security and consular responsibilities.
According to Ambassador Victor Ashe; visits like this are very important so that our legislative committees have the opportunity to see and hear first-hand, the great cooperation and work being done to protect the international traveling public.
