The Commanding General of U.S. Army Europe and 7th Army, General Carter F. Ham, visited Poland from 13 to 15 May. During this visit, General Ham stopped in at the Conference of European Armies – Non-commissioned Officers along with the Polish Land Forces Commander, Lieutenant General Waldemar Skrzypczak. General Ham was very impressed with the program the Polish military had for the non-commissioned officers (NCOs) visiting from 39 countries. Lieutenant General Skrzypczak also hosted General Ham at his headquarters at the Citadella in Warsaw, during which both generals discussed areas of current and potential future cooperation between their organizations. Both generals reaffirmed their commitment to continuing and strengthening the cooperation between Polish Land Forces and U.S. Army Europe. General Ham's last visit was with the Chief of the General Staff, General Franciszek Gągor, during which General Ham expressed that U.S. Army Europe is looking forward to executing Patriot training and exercises in Poland once the necessary conditions have been met.
Mrs. Ham accompanied her spouse to Poland, spending time with the commander of the 11th Armored Cavalry Division, Major General Paweł Lamla in Poznan before flying with General Ham to Warsaw. While in Warsaw, she had an opportunity to see the excellent facilities at the American School, and participated in the farewell dinner for General Ham and Lieutenant General Skrzypczak.
