"The Return of History” and “The Rise of China” – Prof. Wing Thye Woo Speaks in Poland

At the invitation of the U.S. Embassy in Warsaw, the eminent economist Prof. Wing Thye Woo visited Poland in November to address the future of the global economy. He was a keynote speaker at the "The Return of History: From Consensus to Crisis, 1989-2009" conference organized by CASE – Center for Social and Economic Research. Prof. Woo also delivered a public lecture on "The Rise of China: the Implications for U.S. and EU” at the Lazarski School of Commerce and Law. Wing Thye Woo is a Professor at the University of California at Davis, a Yangtze River Scholar at the Central University of Finance and Economics in Beijing, the Director of the East Asia Program within The Earth Institute at Columbia University, and a nonresident Senior Fellow at the Brookings Institution. He was an advisor to the governments of China, Malaysia, and the United States and also to the United Nations.
Prof. Woo earned undergraduate degrees in Economics and Engineering at Swarthmore College, master’s degrees in Economics at Yale and Harvard, and a Ph.D. in Economics at Harvard.
