1 December 2009
Lazarski University marked Thanksgiving with a program on the holiday and the United States
To mark Thanksgiving Day in Poland, the Lazarski School of Commerce and Law in Warsaw put together a special program which included presentations, a panel discussion, and a quiz testing the students’ knowledge about the United States. On Tuesday, November 24, U.S. Embassy staff joined the faculty and students for the event. The University organized a program focused around the holiday, which included the opportunity to discuss the United States in current events. Jeanne Briganti, the Embassy’s Deputy Cultural Attache, helped open the event by giving a presentation on the history of Thanksgiving and how it is celebrated. In addition, Andrew Paul, the Embassy’s Press Attache, joined a panel discussion on the Obama Administration and its policies with Professor Wojciech Bienkowski and Piotr Gillert. The students then competed for prizes in a quiz of their knowledge on the United States. Finally, all present were invited to join an American-style Thanksgiving dinner complete with Turkey, and other traditional dishes.
