U.S. Senator Ben Nelson of Nebraska Visits Warsaw

U.S. Senator Ben Nelson of Nebraska visited Warsaw on June 29 to meet with high-level Polish officials, including Foreign Minister Radoslaw Sikorski, Minister Tomasz Arabski in Prime Minister Tusk's Office, Minister Aleksander Szczyglo of the National Security Bureau, Minister Mariusz Handzlik of the Presidential Chancellery, the new Chairman of the Foreign Affairs Committee, Mr. Andrzej Halicki, and Deputy Defense Minister Stanislaw Komorowski. In these meetings, the Senator discussed a number of bilateral issues, including missile defense and the Visa Waiver Program. Senator Nelson expressed his gratitude for Polish contributions to the International Security Assistance Force in Afghanistan. Senator Nelson’s delegation also had the opportunity to meet with prominent member’s of Warsaw’s academic institutions and think tanks to include Ambassador Jerzy Nowak, Mr Eugeniusz Smolar, Professor Zbigniew Lewicki, and Mr Adam Jasser.
