Ambassador Ashe Visits Zachodniopomorskie

U.S. Ambassador to Poland Victor Ashe called on the Voivode of Szczecin, Marcin Zydorowicz, on Tuesday, January 22, 2008, as part of his visit to the region Zachodniopomorskie. He also met with Mayor of Szczecin Piotr Krzystek, before departing with Defense Attache Colonel Richard Runner to visit the nearby 12th Mechanized Division. At the military base the Ambassador was presented a slide show on the unit, with special emphasis on deployment, and visited the museum where he learned of the brigade's patron, General Haller. He was presented equipment, and layed flowers. Later that afternoon, the Ambassador visited Henryk Piłat, Mayor of Gryfino and Helena Hatka, Voivode of Lubuskie.
On Wednesday, January 23, Ambassador Ashe continued his trip from Zachodniopomorskie to Lubuskie with a visit to Piotr Florek, Voivode of Poznań. Later in the morning, he paid a call to Marek Baumgart, Mayor of Swarzędz. In the afternoon, the Ambassador met with Włodzimierz Śniecikowski, Mayor of Gostynin, and with Jan Starzyński, Mayor of Pruszków, which concluded the two days of Embassy outreach in the north and west of Poland.
