Ambassador Ashe hosted a reception on November 20 offering American lobsters in Poland, a new item available for purchase here, Agricultural Counselor Eric Wenberg announced.  The Ambassador said, "Polish consumers are becoming more interested in high quality goods from abroad and have many topline choices they can make for restaurants and high-end shops".  The United States is a major exporter of seafood and sold $350 million worth of lobster last year to international markets.  The United States is also a major importer of seafood, buying billions of dollars of products from abroad each year.  If an American seafood company is selling to Europe they should be looking at Poland.  The event began the kickoff for the U.S. Department of Agriculture to organize a delegation of importers to attend the Boston seafood show in March 15-17, 2009 in Boston, Massachusetts.  Agricultural Counselor Wenberg said, "The American Embassy is eager promoting our fish and seafood and any U.S. company or organization working in this area is invited to contact the USDA office in Warsaw, at agwarsaw@fas.usda.gov for a list of importers and/or customers, or to participate in an event.  For more on the Boston seafood show, please visit their website.  http://www.bostonseafood.com/09/public/enter.aspx and contact us at AgWarsaw for our help to attend.   Embassy Warsaw is grateful to Poland Services, Inc., a local importer for its participation in this event and its interest in supporting U.S. seafood export sales in the Central Europe region.
