Lodz Youngsters Meet America at Embassy

On March 17, 2008, a group of twenty elementary school students from Lodz visited the Embassy to participate in the Embassy's Meet America program. The group included the winners of a U.S. knowledge competition which tests their knowledge of American culture, history and traditions through art projects, a written test, and an oral examination. Public Affairs Officer Edward Kulakowski welcomed the group and spoke about U.S.-Polish relations and encouraged the group to learn English, and study and visit the United States. Sergeant Robert Catching of the Marine Detachment in Warsaw spoke to the students about his life and service to country as a Marine. Deputy Cultural Attache Hilary Renner gave a multimedia presentation on American geography, art, film, historical facts, and heroes and the educational system in the United States.
