Polish Appointee to US Air Force Academy

Maciej Krakowian, a recent graduate of the Polish Air Force Secondary School, Dęblin, has accepted an appointment to attend the United States Air Force Academy as a member of the Class of 2012.  The recipient of a full scholarship from the United States Air Force, he will study at the school, located in Colorado Springs, Colorado, for the next four years.

In announcing the appointment, Embassy Air Attache Walter B. Munyer said, “Mr. Krakowian will be one of just 20 foreign citizens out of the Air Force Academy’s freshman class numbering nearly 1,300 students; it’s quite a distinction to earn a place in this highly competitive admissions process, and I extend my congratulations on his accomplishment.”

Upon graduating from the Academy, Mr. Krakowian plans to return to Poland to become a fighter pilot in the Polish Air Force.  Born in Płock, Mr. Krakowian is the son of Krzysztof and Jadwiga Aniela Krakowian, residents of Warsaw. 

Poland currently has one other cadet studying at the Air Force Academy, Cadet 3rd Class Kajetan Łapczuk.
