Polish Commander Hosts Ambassador at POLSOCOM

Major General Włodzimierz Potasinski, the Commander of the Polish Special Operations Command (POLSOCOM), hosted Ambassador Ashe for a visit to the GROM Special Warfare Unit on June 4. The Ambassador received a briefing on POLSOCOM and its cooperation with the U.S. Special Operations Command. During the visit, the Ambassador witnessed training by both U.S. and Polish Special Forces. U.S. Special Forces personnel based in the United States are expected to be in Poland for a month-long training event with POLSOCOM forces. POLSOCOM was formed in January 2007 and is increasingly cooperating with U.S. Special Operations Forces. Polish and U.S. Special Operations Command cooperate in joint U.S.-Polish and NATO deployments in both Afghanistan and Iraq. Polish Special Forces is currently on its third, six-month long deployment to ISAF and will be concluding operations in Iraq later this summer.
