Unit Day for GROM

Colonel Jerzy Gut, Commander, GROM with Ms. Magda Szkop and Lieutenant Colonel Ray Wojcik, Office of Defense Cooperation, U.S. Embassy.  

On June 12, Lieutenant Colonel Ray Wojcik and Ms. Magda Szkop from the Embassy's Office of Defense Cooperation attended the annual Unit Day for GROM, Poland's elite Special Operations unit.  The event was attended by Minister Władysław Stasiak, Chief of the National Security Bureau and General Włodzimierz Potasinski, Commander, Polish Special Operations Command.  Founded in 1990, GROM is known as the Operational and Mobile Reconnaissance Group and was organized based on American and British Special Operations units.  The Office of Defense Cooperation supports Poland's military transformation and modernization efforts by administering over $4B in  Security Assistance programs on the behalf of the U.S. Department of State and in close coordination with U.S. European Command.
