The U.S. Navy Guided Missile Destroyer USS Mitscher (DDG-57) visited Gdynia, Poland, from October 30 to 3 November on a port call for crew liberty and recreation.   “This visit demonstrates the US commitment to strengthening the ties of friendship and understanding between our two nations," said CDR Dan Uhls, Commanding Officer of Mitscher.  "Poland is a highly valued member of NATO and we greatly appreciate her contributions to the Alliance.  My crew and I look forward to seeing the sights in the Tri-city area during our visit."  During their first day in port, the crew of Mitscher gave a tour for 11 members of the Polish media and hosted a reception attended by guests from the Polish Navy and the local government. Nine Officers and sailors from the crew of the USS Mitscher attended an All Saints Day military mass in the Naval Cemetery in Gdynia on Saturday.  Following the mass, the crewmembers participated in a wreath-laying ceremony at the monument for Polish Navy War Dead in the cemetery.
