| Ambassador Ashe Receives the Army Gold Medal |
On Tuesday, January 27, U.S. Ambassador to Poland, Victor Ashe, together with his wife Joan, paid an official farewell visit to the Ministry of National Defense of the Republic of Poland. Polish Minister of Defense, Bogdan Klich, thanked Ambassador Ashe for his contributions towards strengthening the U.S.-Polish cooperation on defense issues. Undersecretary of State for Social Affairs, Czesław Piątas, decorated Ambassador Ashe with the Gold Medal of the Polish Armed Forces, the highest award for non-Polish citizens for praiseworthy service in support of the development and promotion of the Polish Armed Forces abroad.
The meeting was also attended by the Under Secretary of the Ministry of Defense for Defense Policy, Stanisław Jerzy Komorowski, the Under Secretary of the Ministry of Defense for armament and modernization Zenon Kosiniak-Kamysz, and the Chief of the General Staff, General Franciszek Gągor. Ambassador Ashe was escorted by the U.S. Defense Attaché, Col Richard Runner and the Chief of the Office of Defense Cooperation, Col Timothy Burke.
