On Monday afternoon, February 2, U.S. Ambassador to Poland, Victor Ashe, called on the Polish Senate Foreign Affairs Committee.  Chairman Leon Kieres thanked Ambassador Ashe for his efforts to improve strategic cooperation between Poland and the United States.  The Ambassador and Committee members discussed the global economic crisis, upcoming high-level meetings between Polish and U.S. government officials, the need to work together to promote democracy and economic reform in Eastern Europe, Polish and U.S. involvement in support of NATO's mission in Afghanistan, and the importance of a strong trans-Atlantic cooperation.  The Ambassador and Committee members agreed to meet again soon to discuss ways to strengthen the U.S.-Polish strategic dialog.
