SS General Kutschera Assassination Reenacted Near US Embassy

Political Counselor Daniel Sainz attended the February 22 re-enactment of the February 1, 1944 assassination of Franz Kutschera, SS General and Police Leader of the Warsaw District during the Nazi occupation of Poland.  “It was a realistic and evocative reminder of the courage and sacrifice of the Polish Resistance,” Sainz said.  “A few days after Kutschera’s assassination, a hundred Poles were randomly selected and killed.  Poles paid a heavy price, but operation Kutschera succeeded in demonstrating that no Nazi official, however high-ranking, was safe in occupied Poland.”
