The Global Supply Chain Security Conference in Munich

10 January 2009

The Global Supply Chain Security Conference in Munich
On February 2, a delegation of two Polish Logistics Officers and one American officer from the Office of Defense Cooperation at the U.S. Embassy in Warsaw, Poland, attended a three-day conference: “The Global Supply Chain Security” in Munich, Germany.  The conference was organized by the U.S. European Command in cooperation with the Naval Post Graduate School and Bundeswehr University.  The main focus of the conference was the security of the supply chain on a global scale including physical and cyber security, protection of infrastructures, energy security, and involvement of non-government assets in military deployments, sustainment operations, and emergency situations.

Attendees ranged from high-ranking military officers from 15 countries to professors from top universities and logistics specialists from multi-billion dollar companies.  The exchange of ideas and experiences gave a new perspective on supply chain security and international cooperation.  New methods and improvements to existing ones will be based on the data collected during the conference.
