Teaching Excellence and Achievement Program Recruitment
The U.S. Embassy in Warsaw and the Polish-U.S. Fulbright Commission are pleased to announce recruitment for the Teaching Excellence and Achievement Program – a six-week program in the United States for high school teachers of either English as a Foreign Language, Social Science or Math and Sciences in the Spring or Fall 2011. Applications are due by March 15, 2010 to tea_poland@state.gov
The Teaching Excellence and Achievement Program (TEA) is a program of the Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs of the U.S. Department of State implemented by IREX, a Washington, DC-based nonprofit organization.
The fellowship covers all costs associated with the program, including travel to the final interview, TOEFL testing, and J-1 visa support in Poland, plus round-trip airfare to the United States, housing, meals, insurance, local transportation, a pre-departure orientation, a closing seminar, and a book/professional development allowance.
This six-week program includes:
- coursework and intensive training in teaching methodologies, lesson planning, and teaching strategies for the participants’ home environment
- the use of computers for Internet and word processing and as teaching tools
- a two-week internship at a U.S. secondary school
- visits to local schools, NGOs, and local government offices
- trips to U.S. cultural sites
- full academic support
Exchange participants will also have the opportunity to host a U.S. teacher for two weeks and to apply for follow-on grants.
TEA fellows will be selected through an open, merit-based competition. After the application deadline, the U.S. Embassy and Polish-U.S. Fulbright Commission will review all eligible applications. Top candidates will be interviewed and must take the TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language) examination or provide valid results no more than one year old. The final selection will be based on the top candidates’ applications, interviews, and TOEFL test results.
