On December 3, Ambassador Ashe met with Minister of Science and Higher Education Barbara Kudrycka.  The Ambassador first met the Minister two years ago when she was Rector of the Bialystok School of Public Administration where he spoke.  The two discussed of the importance of educational and scientific exchanges between the two countries and the Minister recalled her positive experiences in the United States.  The Ambassador informed the Minister that 2009 will mark the 50th anniversary of the Fulbright Program in Poland, and the Minister agreed to sign the newly-negotiated Fulbright Agreement as soon as possible to expand this important program in Poland.

Ambassador Ashe was the first foreign ambassador to call on Minister of Sport and Tourism Miroslaw Drzewiecki on December 4.  The Ambassador and Minister discussed sports and tourism in each other's country, and the Minister described preparations for Euro 2012 which is expected to be a boon for tourism in Poland.  The Ambassador informed the Minister of the number of Polish athletes and Olympic medalists who had attended receptions in their honor at the Ambassador's residence.  He wished the Polish Olympic team success in Beijing and proposed to host a reception for the Polish Olympians in September 2008.
