Funeral of Polish Security Officer Killed in Iraq

In an attack on Polish Ambassador to Iraq Edward Pietrzyk on October 3, Polish Security Officer Bartosz Orzechowski was killed in the line of duty.  In expressing condolences on behalf of all U.S. citizens, Ambassador Victor Ashe said, "We admire Mr. Orzechowski's service in Iraq and share his family's sorrow upon this tragic loss."  Mr. Orzechowki's funeral was held in Zamosc on October 6; he was posthumously promoted to 2nd Lieutenant.  U.S. Embassy officials attended the funeral and presented flowers and a letter of condolence to his family.
