Elias Skovron

Elias Skovron, an American citizen of Polish origin, recently left the United States Government a portion of his will in gratitude for all that the United States did for him during his lifetime.  "With gratitude for the years of freedom I have enjoyed and for the many benefits this country has provided me, I leave to the Treasury of the United States of America the sum of $200,000 for the express purpose of applying on the principal amount of the national debt of our government," wrote Elias Skovron, 92, who died in January.  To read a full article on this story in the Tennessean newspaper, click here.
