A group of five senior officers from the Polish Air Force, led by Lieutenant General Lech Majewski, Deputy Commander, Polish Air Force, recently toured several U.S. Air Force bases to observe and discuss training of Polish pilots under the F-16 program. Colonel Stanley Prusinski, Chief, Office of Defense Cooperation, U.S. Embassy, Warsaw, Poland, and Major Chad “Brew” Meyering, Country Program Manager for Poland in the Office of the Deputy Under Secretary of the Air Force for International Affairs escorted the group. The one-week, whirlwind tour included visits to Moody, Randolph, Laughlin and Davis Monthan Air Force Bases.
The team met with General WilliamR. Looney III, Commander, Air Education Training Command, and with Brigadier General Rick Moisio, Commander, 162nd Fighter Wing. As a part of the visit, Lieutenant General Majewski was able to fly in a T-38C trainer aircraft and in an F-16. During the F-16 training flight, Generals Majewski and Moisio were pitted, in dogfights, against a young Polish officer preparing for a career as an F-16 pilot. The latter acclaimed himself well against the two generals. General Majewski commented positively about the training program and the capabilities of both the T-38C and F-16 aircraft.
