Seven-year old twins Slawomir and Michal received their immigrant visas directly from U.S. Ambassador to Poland Victor Ashe on November 8, as part of the Embassy's celebration of National Adoption Awareness Month.  The twins were adopted by the Lorenc family of Glendale, Arizona.  Ambassador Ashe presented the boys their visas as their parents, Piotr and Jacqueline, and sisters Lauren and Gabrielle, looked on.

In the United States, November is recognized as National Adoption Awareness Month.  U.S. Embassies around the world commemmorate the Month in ceremonies and celebrations, culminating on the Saturday before Thanksgiving (this year November 17), which is National Adoption Day.  In Warsaw, the U.S. Embassy's Immigrant Visa Unit processes immigrant visas for Americans who adopt Polish children.  Under the provisions of the Child Citizenship Act, Slawomir and Michal will become American citizens upon initial admission into the United States.
