U.S. Ambassador to Poland, Victor Ashe, hosted a reception to celebrate the 10th Anniversary of the Benefactor of the Year Award at his residence. In his welcoming remarks, Ambassador Ashe described how U.S. support for corporate giving is an important element of American civil society and noted that U.S. companies have provided vital support to the development and the management of American museums, galleries, libraries, universities, hospitals, and many other types of civic and community institutions. Ashe also noted that the U.S. Embassy financially supported the first edition of this contest, and now, in certain ways continues to support the competition through this year’s patron, the Polish-American Freedom Foundation, which was initially endowed with $200 million dollars from the U.S. Congress. He also highlighted the many U.S. companies which were past winners of the Benefactor of the Year award.
