Industrial Cooperation Agreements Signed in Gdansk

Ambassador Feinstein traveled to Gdansk on January 26 to witness the signing of four agreements involving GE Hitachi, a major American supplier of nuclear energy technology and equipment.  GE Hitachi is one of several U.S. companies competing to supply Poland with nuclear technology, equipment and services.  It signed industrial cooperation agreements with the Gdansk Shipyard and Rafako S.A., as well as agreements to cooperate in nuclear energy-related education with Gdansk University, Gdansk University of Technology, West Pomeranian University of Technology, and Koszalin University of Technology.

Senior officials representing the organizations involved in the cooperative agreements also participated in the signing.

Ambassador Feinstein noted that promotion of trade, investment, and commercial ties between the United States and Poland is one of his top priorities, and said that the four agreements offer “the prospect of deep, sophisticated, and enduring industrial and educational cooperation.”

While in Gdansk, Ambassador Feinstein also visited the History Museum of the City of Gdansk, where he previewed an Embassy-sponsored exhibit on NASA and space exploration.  The exhibit will open officially on Friday, January 28.  Ambassador Feinstein also met with professors from Gdansk University’s American Studies program.
