Stories from Poland
Martha Golubiec
Here in Seattle we had the pleasure of knowing Suzanne Rymer who became a member of our Seattle-Gdynia Sister City Assoc probably 14 years ago. She was a smiling happy person ready to contribute to the success of our organization and our annual Seattle Polish Film Festival. She moved to Montana and sad to say we lost touch. She always talked very positively about her work with the Peace Corps in Poland.
Many years ago (maybe 15-18 years) when I was in Szczecin I met two Peace Corps volunteers (I am sorry I don't remember their names) who worked as advisers to the Mayor/President of the City of Szczecin and the other was an adviser to the Wojewoda of the Province/Wojewodztwo. They thought they won the lottery- being sent to Poland and were so happy to be there, raving about their good fortune and the very nice people they worked with and met.
