Stories from Poland

Does anyone remember Peace Corps volunteers? Of course!
In 1990 my husband and I worked in a newly established English Teacher Training College in Krosno. One day the Mayor of the City Council visited the college and asked both the staff and the students to take care of Jim Cason, a Peace Corps volunteer who came to Krosno to work on some environment project for the city. At that time few people spoke English so Jim needed help in everyday communication. Very soon Jim became a friend of our college – he offered help, priceless at that time, in teaching English. He not only became a member of our college family but also of our own family. We still remember wonderful time we spent with Jim.
Our friendship did not disappear once he went back to the States – for twenty years we have been in a regular contact with Jim. Some time ago he visited Krosno and now, health permitting, he is planning another trip to Poland. He says the best time of his life he spent in Krosno. There have been many volunteers from Britain and America yet it is Jim Cason who truly became one of us.
