From 19-23 January, 2008, a team from the U.S. National Geospatial--Intelligence Agency (NGA) visited Poland. During the trip, the NGA team paid a call on U.S. Ambassador Victor Ashe and visited several of Poland's Military Topographic Centers. NGA funded the team's assistance visit which was led by Mr. William Trzyzewski, Europe Team, Atlantic Division, Office of International Affairs and Policy, NGA. NGA has a long standing bilateral relationship with Poland and has provided advice, equipment and training support via annual Foreign Military Financing grants given to Poland by the United States since 1995. Regionally, in Central and Eastern Europe, Poland receives more U.S. Security Assistance Foreign Military Financing grant dollars than any other country. To date this includes over $285 million in direct FMF grants and more than $3.9 billion in FMF loans. Additionally, Poland has received more than $31 million dollars under the Combined Education Training Program (CETP) which includes: the International Military Education Training (IMET) Program; Military to Military (M2M) Program; State Partnership Program (SPP) and Combating Terrorism Fellowship Program (CTFP). Poland utilizes U.S. support to help transform and modernize the Armed Forces of the Republic of Poland.
