Director of Logistics and Security Assistance Visits Warsaw

Rear Admiral Michael J. Lyden, Director of Logistics and Security Assistance, U.S. European Command, paid a visit to Warsaw on April 11. Admiral Lyden leads a Directorate that is responsible to the Commander, U.S. European Command, for
Security Assistance Programs that are helping to transform and modernize Poland’s Armed Forces. These efforts include the F-16C/D Multi-Role Fighter, C-130E Transport Aircraft, Shadow Unmanned Aerial Vehicle, and the Perry-Class Frigate programs.
Admiral Lyden met with U.S. Ambassador to Poland, Victor Ashe, and Colonel Stanley Prusinski and members of U.S. Embassy Warsaw’s Office of Defense Cooperation. Admiral Lyden was hosted by Brigadier Generals Samol, Juszczak and Szymanski of the Polish Armed Forces’ General Staff. Discussions revolved around logistical, modernization and programmatic issues.
Following meetings with Polish counterparts, Admiral Lyden participated in an awards ceremony, along with Ambassador Ashe, during which he awarded Joint Service Achievement Medals to Lieutenant Colonel Gary Foster and Major Ken Ribble of U.S. Embassy Warsaw’s Office of Defense Cooperation for their exceptional handling of the F-16 program. Admiral Lyden also officially presented the Joint Meritorious Unit Achievement Award to the Office of Defense Cooperation.
