U.S. Embassy Participates in 1st Special Forces Regiment Unit Day

The U.S. Embassy's Lt. Col. Brad Mitchell, Sergeant Mathew Kidder, and Lt. Col. Ray Wojcik attended the Polish 1st Special Forces Regiment's 14th annual Unit Anniversary on October 5.  In a parade and signing ceremony, Poland's 1st SF Regiment went from Polish Land Forces Command (the Polish Army) to control of the Polish Special Operations Command.  The 1st Special Forces Regiment is commanded by Col. Dariusz Dachowicz.  Polish senior representatives attended the ceremony, including Lt. General Mieczysław Stachowiak, Major General Roman Polko, and Major General Jerzy Michałowski.  Later in the day, U.S. Embassy personnel joined Polish colleagues and completed the 13 kilometer commando run known as "Run for the Knife."
