U.S. Air Force Captain Douglas Aguilar is the first Air Force Officer selected for the Engineer and Scientist Exchange Program (ESEP) in Poland.  Capt. Aguilar is currently working under the Polish Ministry of Science at the Polish Academy of Sciences’ Space Research Center in Warsaw where he is assigned to the Planetary Geodesy Department.  He and his colleagues are conducting research on GPS Inertial Navigation Systems and the European Geostationary Navigation Overlay Service capabilities and performance in Warsaw.

The ESEP program is a U.S. Department of Defense program that promotes international cooperation in military research, development, and acquisition through the exchange of defense professionals.  It provides on-site working assignments for U.S. military and civilian engineers and scientists in allied and friendly governments’ organizations.  The purpose of ESEP is to form a cadre of internationally experienced professionals to enhance U.S. Air Force research and development programs, gain insight into foreign research and development, and to cultivate future international cooperative endeavors.
