More than forty participants from Poland's government security agencies participated in a workshop in Warsaw from November 12-16 on “Special Operations in Combating Terrorism” sponsored by the U.S. Embassy's Office of Defense Cooperation.  The Polish agencies included Poland’s newly established Special Operations Command, the Polish General Staff, Operations Command, Services, Ministry of Interior and Administration, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, National Security Bureau, and National Defense Academy.  A team of four instructors from the U.S. Naval Postgraduate School and Joint Special Operations University led the workshop, covering the structure, planning, sourcing, and operational employment of special operations forces in the fight against terrorism.  The training will help build capacity for conducting successful missions by the Polish armed forces in Afghanistan and Iraq.  Polish attendees of the workshop appreciated sharing lessons-learned and best practices of U.S. Special Operations.
