U.S. Ambassador to Poland, Victor Ashe, said recently that to paraphrase the late American writer, Mark Twain, reports of his immediate resignation and departure are greatly exaggerated. "While I had anticipated departing Poland this summer after the normal three years for an American Ambassador's service ended, I have been asked to stay until a successor is nominated by the President and confirmed by the United States Senate. That should occur sometime late this year but an exact date is not known. I anticipate continuing my duties in Warsaw until a successor is confirmed and arrives in Warsaw," stated Ambassador Ashe.
