U.S. President Bush George W. Bush sent a message to Polish President Lech Kaczynski on the occasion of Poland’s Constitution Day on May 3. “On behalf of the American people, I extend my warmest congratulations to you and the Polish people on the occasion of your Constitution Day on May 3. As the world’s first two countries to adopt democratic constitutions, the United States and Poland share a love of freedom and a true understanding of its meaning. We have worked together and will continue to do so to spread democracy, combating all forms for oppression and encouraging people around the world to heed the message of freedom. I thank you for your commitment to sustaining the principles to which our countries’ founders committed themselves over 200 years ago,” wrote President Bush.
