3M started its activity in Poland in the late 1960’s and early 1970’s. As a branch of the concern Minnesota Mining and Manufacturing, 3M Poland opened in 1991. In 1997 a sales office was established in Warsaw. In June 1998, 3M Poland moved into its new headquarters in Kajetany, near Warsaw. The facility has client space, presentation rooms and laboratories where product application are demonstrated, training courses are held and new applications are prepared and tested according to Polish industry requirements. The company has three branch offices, in Gdańsk, Katowice, and a production site in Wrocław.
In January 2001, the Polish Business Club granted us the title of “Company of the Year 2000.” In July of that year, we obtained ISO 9001: 2000 certificate covering services in sales, marketing, logistics and technical counselling. On November 27, 2002, 3M Poland received “The Fair Play Enterprise “ Statuette and Certificate.
On December 27, 2001, 3M paid PLN 63 million to acquire Viscoplast SA in Wrocław, producers of sticking plasters, surgical dressings, operative foil, dressing and healing plasters. Since January 2002, the enterprise has been active as 3M Viscoplast SA. The company has a strong position both on the consumer market and in wholesale to hospitals, outpatient clinics and health service centers. The company was fully integrated on July 1, 2003 and now bears the name 3M Poland Sp. z o.o. – Wrocław Site. Over 85 percent of the Wrocław facility’s production is exported.
3M in Poland actively supports the local community by sponsoring a range of people and organizations, for example, the Integrative Sports Club – wheelchair fencing team, local school for disabled children in Kostowiec, Junior Achievement Fund, Dr Clown Foundation, Polish Humanitarian Organization and Polish Red Cross. We were one of the six companies that co-founded the Forum Odpowiedzialnego Biznesu (Forum of Responsible Business) in Poland. We are the members of the BCC and Polish Business Club.
