Goal is to Expand Business and Investment Opportunities
America's leading aerospace firms are part of a U.S. Department of Commerce trade mission visiting Poland this week, hoping to improve trade ties between the two countries. The goal of the trade mission is to look for business and investment opportunities in Poland. The trade delegation was in Warsaw November 3 -- designated as "American Aviation Day" in Poland, an event co-sponsored by the eleven firms represented in the traveling delegation, as well as seven other American companies with ongoing business in Poland.
The highlight of the delegation's visit was a meeting with Prime Minister Leszek Miller. Prior to that, company representatives had several meetings with Polish firms while in Warsaw.
"This delegation is a direct result of the Polish government's request that the Embassy help attract American business to Poland," according to U.S. Ambassador to Poland Christopher Hill. "I hope these companies will find the atmosphere conducive to investment."
Among the firms participating in the delegation are Raytheon, which manufactures air traffic control systems for civil aviation. Boeing, principal supplier of aircraft to LOT, is offering a new fleet of planes to the Polish airline. Industrial Metals International makes a wide selection of products made from titanium, aluminum, nickel, and stainless steel for the aviation industry. Northrup Grumman, which is already working on several defense-related projects linked to the F-16, produces aviation-related electronics.
The delegation will also visit Romania and the Czech Republic this week.
