This year America celebrates 229 years of independence. In conjunction with U.S. Mission Poland's independence day festivities in Warsaw, Krakow, Poznan and Lancut we are pleased to announce our fourth annual American Days festival.
American Days is a vibrant four-day festival of American music, dance, sport, visual arts, and just plain fun that brings the 4th of July holiday celebration closer to the Polish people.
For 2005 American Days is coming to Pomorze. From July 7th to 9th, events will be held in Szczecinek, Chłuchów, Charzykowy, and Tczew, and on Sunday the 10th, Tczew will also host the grande finale.
Among the events scheduled for this year will be performances by the Joe Alter Dance Group, The Nai Ni Chen Dance Group, The Old Grey Goose from New England, Asterland Congress from Łódź, and as a very special event, Billy Bacon and the Forbidden Pigs, all the way from San Diego, California. American Days will also feature many events representing other aspects of American culture.
Each town will have an exhibit of American photography or prints, most will have an evening featuring American films, there will be special activities designed to get children involved, and for those of you who have always wondered about that peculiar sport – American football – the Warsaw Eagles American football team will be conducting workshops and exhibition games to help explain the game and show you how it works.
In addition, each town is preparing its own slate of activities to actively involve Poles in this American event. So if you’re not already planning on being in the United States July, come to Pomorze for the next best thing!
American Days would not be possible without the generous support of the cities of Charzykowy, Czluchow, Szczecinek, Tczew and our sponsors american Airlines, disney, frito Lay, and home Box Office.
