On March 23 Ambassador to Poland, Victor Ashe, hosted a visit to the embassy of senior city officials from the Polish towns of Krapkowice, Zabierzów, and Morawica, and from the US town of Camas, Washington. The four municipalities signed a five-way cooperation agreement (along with Hillsboro, Oregon) and have since worked increasingly close on a range of initiatives designed to strengthen local governments and businesses, as well as cultural and educational ties among the group. They cited as the best example of their work the annual English Language Camp conducted in July in Morawica, in which 60 Polish, German, Czech, Slovak, and Ukrainian students receive immersion-style instruction from teachers from Camas. The ambassador congratulated them on their ongoing success and offered the embassy’s continued support in their future endeavors.
