American Days in Chełm and Łęczna

14 June 2006
American Days

For the fifth year, the U.S. Embassy in Warsaw will organize American Days, a vibrant festival celebrating America’s independence that brings the 4th of July and the rich traditions of American culture beyond the major city centers of Poland. This year’s festival celebrates American Diversity – cultural, ethnic, and even geographical.

American Days 2006 will be held in Chełm and Łęczna. The Chełm festival will run from June 30th to July 2nd while the Łęczna festival will be on July 1st. We work closely with city authorities and community leaders to organize these festivals in order to produce a variety of events and performances to attract audiences of all ages -- children, teenagers and adults. This year the festival will include performances by the Dixie Land Band, Jazz Musician Miles Griffith, Nai Ni Chen Dance Company, Storyteller Laura Simms, country singers Doug Adkins and Patricia Vonne, and hiphop artist The Scratch. American Days will also host several exhibits – “American Landscapes,” “Mars: Mission Possible,” and “Sacred Legacy.” The Warsaw Eagles and the Crew Wroclaw will also hold flag football clinics and play a football game in the Chelm Municipal Stadium on Sunday.

But that’s not all! Following true 4th of July tradition, there will be fireworks as well as a picnic with games, music, and food. We hope to see you in Chelm or Łęczna!
