Julia Vitullo-Martin on "Creative Redevelopment" In Warsaw
 |
Cultural Attaché James Wolfe, honorary patron of the “Creative Redevelopment Festival: Vision Ksieży Młyn 2013, www.rewitalizacja.org” which will take place in Łódż September 11-12, invites you to a special appearance of the key-note speaker, Ms. Julia Vitullo-Martin. A Senior Fellow at the Manhattan Institute for Policy Research and Director of the Institute’s Center for Rethinking Development, Ms. Vitullo-Martin will offer a public seminar at the ZACHĘTA Gallery in Warsaw on September 13 at 2:00 p.m.
The Manhattan Institute for Policy Research is an influential New York-based think tank established in 1978, with a mission to "develop and disseminate new ideas that foster greater economic choice and individual responsibility."
The Center for Rethinking Development (CRD) at the Manhattan Institute fosters a new understanding of the importance of development to New York City's well-being. Focusing on such areas as zoning and planning, environmental review, building codes, historic preservation, and public housing, CRD issues research reports, hosts forums, and offers concrete and feasible proposals for reform.
Many of CRD's specific recommendations for zoning changes have been adopted by the city. Its work on broader issues of construction costs, environmental reviews, and other barriers to building continues to frame policy discussions in the development world – public, private, and not-for-profit.
The Creative Redevelopment Festival is a natural continuation of the “Vision Łódż 2023 Conference” which the Embassy co-sponsored in February, featuring Storm Cunningham, Executive Director of the non-profit Revitalization Institute. Mr. Cunningham’s subsequent talk at Zachęta drew a standing-room-only crowd.
