On May 26, Ambassador Victor Ashe addressed 250 participants at the10th Annual World Congress on Civic Education in Warsaw. The Ambassador highlighted the importance of active participation in grassroots organizations and local government to improve communities. Civic educators from 63 nations and 21 U.S. states gathered to discuss best practices in civic education at this annual conference entitled "CIVITAS: A Worldwide Movement" from May 25 through May 29. Besides high-level governmental officials from Poland and other nations, Debra A. Price, Deputy Assistant Secretary, U.S. Department of Education, also spoke at the conference discussing the U.S. government’s support for global programs in civic education.
