Letter from President Bush to President Kwasniewski Congratulating Poland on Constitution Day

3 May 2004

Dear Mr. President:

On behalf of all americans, I extend warmest congratulations to you and the people of Poland on your country's Constitution Day.

Poland's 1791 Constitution rightly remains a source of inspiration and
pride for the Polish people, symbolizing their profound struggle to attain
sovereignty, individual liberty and government by consent.

This year marks another milestone in fulfilling the ideals of 1791. Poland's entry into the European Union further cements its integration
with Europe and the Transatlantic Alliance, underscoring once again that Poland is fully free, democratic and secure in its borders.

Americans salute you and the Polish people on your exceptional accomplishments. We deeply value your steadfast partnership in our shared struggle to promote democracy and to combat terrorism and oppression around the globe. Please accept our best wishes on this important day.

Sincerely,
George W. Bush
