It is said that jazz was born in New Orleans and grew up in Chicago. Poznan is trying to become another landmark on the jazz map: for the 2nd time it will be the scene of the “Made in Chicago” Jazz Festival on 16 – 18 November. The festival is organized jointly by the Estrada Poznanska and the Jazz Institute of Chicago.
There will be six concerts at Blue Note Club, Scena na Piętrze, and the Auditorium of the School of Journalism and Humanities and free workshops, showcasing fourteen musicians (young, new players and established jazz legends) most of whom will come to Poland for the first time to play classic jazz, avant-garde, improvised music, mainstream, and blues. The grand final concert will gather all participating musicians. An exhibition of drawings and paintings by jazz musicians Douglas Ewart and Robert Irving III will open on November 16 at the Oko/Ucho Gallery.
