The USAFE Band will be visiting Poland, with two mixed ensembles touring in northwestern and eastern part of the country April 18-25, announced Cultural Attaché James Wolfe. The U.S. Embassy in Warsaw is pleased to welcome the USAFE Band again in Poland and support its program. The USAFE Band members are active duty U.S. Air Force musicians whose mission is to enhance the image of the United States through their rich repertoire and musically vared live performances and international broadcasts. In Poland the USAFE Band ensembles will play, among many other musical pieces, Overture to Candide by Leonard Bernstein, arranged by Cliff Townsend, as well as musical pieces by Carl Nielsen, Mozart, Copland, Bach, and Bohemian Rhapsody by Freddie Mercury, arranged by Harold Oliver.

The Clarinet Quartet and Wings of Dixie will perform together kicking off in Kielce and Ostrowiec Swietokrzyski on April 19 and moving along the eastern border to Przemysl, Hrubieszow, Lublin, Siedlce and Bialystok. The second ensemble combining the Winds Aloft and Five Star Brass on one stage will tour northwestern Poland at the same time starting with an April 19 concert in Gorzow Wielkopolski, then in Szczecin, Kolobrzeg, Ustronie Morskie, Koszalin and Slupsk. The USAFE will be performing for general and military public in cultural centers, philharmonics and concert halls. Admission to the concerts is free but the city coordinators will be providing a certain number of invitations for the public due to limited capacity of the concert halls. Some concerts will be broadcast by local TV stations. The musicians will also make themselves available for interviews to local daily and weekly newspapers and radio stations.

The USAFE Band offers free concerts and media publicity for the Polish public as another gesture of American friendship with Poland and strengthening Polish-American ties through entertaining and cultural musical events.
